Digital preservation policy

Región Científica is committed to safeguarding its articles and all academic-scientific production generated, and therefore relies on the following digital preservation strategies:

Digital Object Identifier - DOI: Región Científica assigns a DOI to each of the published articles through Crossref.

Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe - LOCKSS: Región Científica is compatible with the LOCKSS system, which ensures permanent and secure archiving. LOCKSS is an open-source program developed by the Stanford University Library, which allows libraries to preserve selected web journals by regularly checking registered journals for new published content and archiving it. Each archive is continually validated with records from other libraries, so any damaged or lost content can be restored using those records or the journal itself. Región Científica invites the entire academic community to consult the LOCKSS Publication Manifesto.

Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe - CLOCKSS: The Open Journal Systems (OJS) of Región Científica also supports the CLOCKSS system, which ensures permanent and secure archiving for the journal's content. CLOCKSS is based on the open-source LOCKSS software developed at the Stanford University Library, which allows libraries to preserve selected web journals by regularly checking registered journal websites for newly published content and archiving it. Each archive is constantly validated against other library caches, and if corrupted or lost content is detected, other caches or the journal itself are used to restore it. Región Científica invites the entire academic community to consult the CLOCKSS Publication Manifesto.
